Exploring WWII Ordnance

February 29 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Explore the USS ALABAMA from a different perspective as you learn about the different guns and ammunition used aboard the “Mighty A” during WWII. Step back in time during this unique, in-depth lesson as a battleship educator guides you throughout the ship to locate the 5in, 40MM, 20MM, and awe-inspiring 16in guns, and give a detailed description of the combat operations of each weapon. During the discussion, visitors will also have the opportunity to hold a replica of a 20MM and 40MM projectile.

  • Walk Through History: Gain insight into the pivotal role these ordnance pieces played in shaping the outcome of World War II.
  • Combat Operations Insights: Delve into the intricate details of combat operations associated with each piece of ordnance.
  • Hands-On Experience: Feel the weight of history in your hands as you’re given the unique opportunity to hold a replica of a 20MM and 40MM ordnance projectile.

The talk is open to the public and included with general admission. Please meet in the Wardroom aboard the USS ALABAMA to begin.

Tickets may be purchased in advance or upon arrival. To purchase tickets now, please click here.
