In 1962, a campaign was launched to bring the USS ALABAMA home to her name sake state to be restored as a memorial to those that served in the United States Armed Forces.  Through a state-wide fundraising campaign from 1962-1964, the school children of Alabama raised almost $100,000 in nickels, dimes, and quarters to help bring her to Mobile.  Their legacy of giving has been enjoyed by thousands of people each year.

The USS ALABAMA Battleship Foundation, Inc. is the nonprofit, 501 (c) 3 fundraising organization that supports the development and preservation of Battleship Memorial Park.

The Foundation relies on donations from supporters like you to fund preservation and restoration projects, update and expand exhibits, and host educational and training programs on the USS ALABAMA and USS DRUM.  Your gift of support makes an impact on these projects and programs. Battleship Memorial Park takes pride in the fact that no taxpayer money has ever been given for daily operations.  The Park has been self-sustaining since being created in 1965.
